About the shop
Rainbow Bookstore is a cozy corner of the internet for readers — an independent blog about books and the reading life, run by people who just really like pressing a good novel into someone's hands.
There's no till here and nothing to buy. What we do is the fun part of a bookshop: the recommending. We write honest reviews, build reading lists for every mood and season, wander the shelves genre by genre, and talk about the books everyone's arguing about — always for their ideas and their craft, never for a side.
The rainbow, explained
The name is a small joke that became the whole design. Every section on the site has its own colour — red for reviews, amber for reading lists, green for shelves, teal for the talked-about, blue for indie shops, purple for the reading life. Six spines, six colours, lined up like a well-loved shelf. That's all the rainbow means here: a way to find your way around.
How we choose
We only write about books we've actually finished, and every title and author on this site is real and correctly attributed — we never invent a book to make a point. Our rating guide explains what the stars mean, and our reviews explain the rest. If a beloved book left us cold, we'll say so kindly and tell you why.
A note on who we are
This is an independent books & reading blog. It is not affiliated with any bookstore or cooperative, and nothing here should be read as the voice of a real shop. We're readers writing for readers — that's the whole of it.
